Scrap Copper or Scrap Brass?

Good Morning Scrap World!

Many times one of the most popular questions that we get is, "How do we know if it is copper or brass?" We always like to tell people to KISS (Keep it simple stupid). One of the easiest ways is that copper is red when you scratch it, and brass is yellow when you scratch it. Then you can check out our Scrap Price Page to see how much you will be getting.

Other then having a magnet with you all of the time when you scrap, make sure that you have a file as well. A good file will make you a lot of money because you will be able to sort and separate material as easy as possible.

When you have a file with you and you are able to sort and separate your scrap brass from your scrap copper you will alway make more money on your scrap. At Rockaway Recycling we also like to show our customers how to sort and separate their materials so that they are able to see how to make more money with their scrap copper, brass, and aluminum, but also how they can learn about it.

Hope you enjoyed this tip!
